Totally not biased because it’s true.

not based on a car platform = not a crossover.

It has been unibody since day one. The GC has never been a truck.

that doesn’t contradict what I said. Escape is a CUV because it’s based on the Focus. Journey is a CUV because it’s based on the Avenger/Sebring. Equinox is a CUV because it’s based on the Malibu.
GC is not based on a car platform, therefore is not a CUV.

Its a crossover sport utility vehicle just like the Mercedes variants. Its not a CUV but it is a crossover.

With this mindset the Range Rover (current and last gen) and new Discovery (and LR3, LR4) are both crossovers.

Unibody since day 1. “Not a truck.” Does not compute.

Latest LR variants are crossovers, L322 RR, LR3 and LR4 were still body on frame.

Um I hope you know “CUV” stands for Crossover Utility Vehicle.

Unibody does not equal crossover. Otherwise, the XJ Cherokee is a “crossover”, the ‘60s Ford F100 is a crossover, etc. Crossover, or CUV, whichever term you prefer, means it’s based on a car chassis. There is no car equivalent to the WK2, or the 61 Ford F100, or the XJ Cherokee, etc. I have a feeling though that this is an argument not worth having based on your other comments. You’re being wrong just to be wrong.
I like our GC, but I wish the passenger side foot well wasn’t shaped so wonky. It’s the main reason I don’t like to ride in it as a passenger.

Crossover doesn’t exist, it’s marketing.
But this is one of the best unibody SUVs ever. I also like the original Touareg, assuming you’re paying for maintenance.

I seriously always thought that the Grand Cherokee shared a platform with the ML, GL, and R. I never knew you HAD to build a car on the same platform for it to be a crossover. Most of these vehicles are so large that the car would be a RWD minivan which will never be made, so the SUV nomenclature (to me, until now) was for anything midsize and up.
But unibody and lifted was a crossover regardless.
I come here to learn something new and I did!

The M and GL share the platform, not the other way around. It was built for the WK2 and sent elsewhere
The R is a very heavily modified version. Enough that, even though they are technically related, it has a completely separate designation

As a fellow wk2 owner, I must admit its quite versatile.
